Humana, Inc. was founded in 1961 and originally called Heritage House of America. For its first two decades, it was mainly focused on supporting hospitals and medical clinics. It continued to grow and expand and in 1984, Humana began marketing employer and individual insurance plans.

Although based in the Southeast U.S., Humana serves all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Some types of policies are only available in a more regionalized area.

Today, Humana is a major player in the health insurance industry.  Its motto is “guidance when you need it most,” and it offers several different types of plans to assist a variety of individuals with a variety of needs. The current CEO of Humana, Inc. is Michael B. McCallister.

Humana currently does not have an option for customers to file a claim online; however, prior claims can have their status checked online.

If you need to file a claim, you have two options. You can print the appropriate forms from the Humana website and mail your claim to the following:

Humana Insurance states that it tries to process all claims within 7-10 business days as long as the required documentation has been submitted appropriately.

Humana receives a rating of A- excellent from AM Best, which is considered the premiere rating system for the best auto insurance companies.

This rating is based on company stability, profits, and consumer opinion.

Statements made by Humana customers included:
